White label, private label or custom: which route is right for you

The ways to put your name on a product, and what each one needs.

Written by Nick Lewis
White label uses our standard formulations from 50 units. Custom formulation is a formula changed or developed for you, from 1,000 litres per product. Next step: Order samples in the customer portal.

Most brands start with white label. It is the fastest route to stock, and our pricing, minimums and lead times are built around it.

  • White label. One of our standard formulations, filled and labelled under your brand. From 50 units per product and pack size, with any standard fragrance and any standard colour at no extra cost. Samples are available in the customer portal.

  • Custom formulation. A formula changed or developed for you, such as a different concentration or viscosity, a non-standard fragrance or a matched colour. The minimum is 1,000 litres per product. Development and sample approval come before production, so allow extra time. Exclusivity is available for formulas developed specifically for you.

What about private label?

People use the term private label in different ways. Some mean what we call white label: our product under your brand. Others mean a formula made only for them, which is our custom formulation route. If you are not sure, tell us what you would want to change, if anything, and we will point you to the right route.

Not sure which you need? Order samples of the standard product first. If it does what your customers need, white label gets you to market sooner. Custom formulation only makes sense when something in the formula itself has to change.

Your next step: Order samples of the standard products you want to compare.
